Métis finger weaving is a vibrant and time-honored tradition that blends creativity with cultural heritage. This engaging art form has been used for generations to craft beautiful belts, bags, bands, and bracelets.

Unlike loom weaving, finger weaving involves a unique method of thread-twining that produces striking patterns—such as arrowheads, diamonds, flames, and lightning bolts—that are impossible to replicate by machine. Each woven piece is one-of-a-kind and can be cherished for both its decorative and cultural value. The technique ranges from simple designs to highly intricate patterns, offering something for all skill levels.

Most notably, finger weaving is used to create the iconic Métis “Sayncheur Flayshii” (arrow belt or Métis sash), a symbol of identity, pride, and craftsmanship. For the Métis, a finely woven sash is more than adornment—it represents tradition, artistry, and luxury.
